Responding to climate heating

The Union of Concerned Scientists has worked with Caplan for nearly 20 years. Most recently, UCS sounded the alarm during “Danger Season” as manmade climate change exacerbated severe weather, endangering 120M Americans and testing the U.S. electricity grid. Though, we also promoted clean vehicles at the 2005 Detroit Auto Show, preparedness for hurricane season and intense storms, when political attacks on science risked children’s health and security about the US nuclear power sector hadn’t advanced one year after the Fukushima disaster Japan.

Global heating is fueling what the Union of Concerned Scientists calls “Danger Season,” affecting nearly 120 million people in the United States, when severe weather impacts collide and climate change tests the electricity grid. NOAA and NASA agreed that Earth experienced its hottest summer on record by a significant margin.
