Advocacy Significance: Annually, the “State of the Air Report” codifies air pollution levels and risks to public health. Caplan designed the national report launch using local broadcast interviews to show where increases and unsafe spikes in particle pollution puts more Americans’ health at risk.
Legislative Significance: In 2009, nine Mid-Atlantic and New England states adopted the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI). By shifting to clean energy, raising energy efficiency, and burning less fossil fuels, state residents’ health dramatically improved.
