Advocacy Significance: Annually, the “State of the Air Report” codifies air pollution levels and risks to public health. Caplan designed the national report launch using local broadcast interviews to show where increases and unsafe spikes in particle pollution puts more Americans’ health at risk. More than 125 million Americans still live in counties with unhealthful levels of ozone, which places them at risk for premature death lung cancer, asthma attacks, heart disease, and developmental and reproductive harm.
